His Excellency Sheikh Professor Dr. Saad bin Nasser Al-Shathri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Madinah International University, received His Eminence the Mufti of the Federal Territories of Malaysia, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Fauwaz bin Ali Fadzil, together with several Malaysian dignitaries and academic delegations, at his residence in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. The meeting was held in a cordial and scholarly atmosphere reflecting the deep academic and da’wah relations between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
Sheikh Al-Shathri is regarded as one of the most prominent scholars in the Islamic world. He serves as an adviser at the Saudi Royal Court and as a member of the Council of Senior Scholars of Saudi Arabia. He was also honoured with delivering the Arafah sermon in 1438 AH.
During the meeting, His Excellency welcomed the Malaysian delegations participating in the Hajj season, including several presidents and representatives of Malaysian universities. He emphasised the importance of strengthening academic and scholarly cooperation with Al-Madinah International University in support of education, scientific research and knowledge exchange between academic institutions in both countries.
The meeting also featured scholarly discussions on contemporary fatwa issues, Shariah qualification and the development of academic partnerships, contributing to the service of the Muslim Ummah and strengthening communication between religious and academic institutions.
In a related context, Sheikh Al-Shathri also participated alongside the Malaysian Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, in the Grand Hajj Symposium 1447H, attended by a distinguished group of scholars and intellectuals from various Islamic countries. The symposium addressed several issues related to serving Hajj pilgrims and promoting the concepts of moderation and unity within the Muslim Ummah.
