An orientation day to welcome the new students was held for three days from 7-9 September 2015. A total of one hundred and fifty eight (158) international and local students enrolled for the September 2015 intake majoring in various  disciplines of study, whereas mostly were students of Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Faculty of Computer and Information Technology. The orientation program is collaborated under the Students Affairs Division led by Dean of Students Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousef Abu Baker El-Ebiary and head by the chairman of the orientation committee; Mrs. Bibi Asma’ Sher Mohamad, Head of Student Service Department.

The opening ceremony of the orientation program begins on the second day with an opening speech by Deputy CEO of Students Affairs Division;  Assoc. Prof Dr.Ismail Mat in welcoming the new students and parents as well emphasizing on the importance of seeking knowledge while having patience along the way and followed by ‘Introduction to MEDIU’ presentation by Head of Marketing Department, Mr. Mohd Shahrin Ab Rahman. The students were overwhelmed when they had the opportunity to meet up with Honorable CEO; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Ali Al-Tamimi who gave a welcome speech and encouraging words to the students.

Later, the students were briefed on the university’s rules and regulations on academic, student portal and Advanced Learning & i-Management system(ALIM Starting) presented by Mr. Jafar Batiha, examination and records matters by Mr. Azrul Nizam Maidin Kutti, finance policy briefed by Ms.Siti Masturah Azman, rules and regulations on international student visa delivered by Mrs. Nur Hidayah Mohd Noor and lastly a briefing session on the local financial assistance on PTPTN and MARA study loan by Mrs. Nor Suhaza Mohmad Shah.

On the last day, the Students Representative Council (SRC) had the opportunity to have an ice breaking session and team building activities with the new students to boost their self-esteem and later followed by a communication training session by an external traniner speaker; Mr.Wesley Chan Wenzhen from Vision Alliance with the topic Personal Mastery – Do you have Chemical X?’  where most of the students gave a wonderful remarks with the session that help the students to gain insights to break fear, effectively understand themselves better and importantly to unleash their potential by igniting their passion.

Mrs. Bibi Asma’ Sher Mohamad ends the orientation session with an emotional words of encouragement to the new students to always unite and work together in order to be successful in life and hereafter, and to hold firmly to the rope of Allah SWT and do not become divided. Lastly, she stressed on the Student Affairs Division will always assist their best to serve and meet the needs of the students throughout their studies in MEDIU.
