A delegation from Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) paid an official visit to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) on Monday, 6 April 2026, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its research capabilities and benefit from leading experiences in the field of scientific research.

The delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Popoola Kareem Hamed, Director of the Research Management Center (RMC) at MEDIU. They were received by a delegation from IIUM, represented by Prof. Ts. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Fadzil Bin Ismail, Director of the Research Management Center, along with a number of specialists and researchers in the field.

The primary objective of the visit was to gain insight into IIUM’s extensive experience in scientific research, as it is regarded as one of the well-established universities with a long-standing track record in this domain. The MEDIU delegation aimed to identify best practices in managing and developing research, particularly in relation to quality assurance systems and established evaluation mechanisms.

During the visit, IIUM’s research systems were presented, with particular emphasis on the Malaysian Research Assessment (MyRA) reports and their role in measuring research performance and enhancing research outputs. Both parties also discussed ways to leverage these practices to support MEDIU’s direction towards improving research quality and strengthening its competitiveness.

In addition, the MEDIU delegation delivered a brief presentation on its current research systems and potential areas for development. The meeting featured extensive discussions and constructive dialogue focusing on opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange, contributing to institutional development goals for both sides.

This visit reflects MEDIU’s commitment to learning from distinguished academic institutions, particularly IIUM, in support of its aspiration to build a robust research ecosystem aligned with international standards and best practices.

The visit concluded with a campus tour of IIUM, where the delegation explored its academic facilities and visited the university library, one of its key knowledge centers, followed by an exchange of commemorative gifts between both parties.
