Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) recently celebrated the World Arabic Language Day on Monday, 12 December 2019 organized by The Arabic Language Club. The event attended by Dean of Faculty of Languages; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Flayyih Mudhhi Ahmed, Director Centre of Preparatory Studies & Languages; Prof. Dr. Daud Quadir Elega, Dean of Student Affairs Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doucoure Abdou Samadou, Advisor of the Arabic Language Club; Asst. Prof. Dr. Abduloh Usof, Head of the Arabic Language Department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Koussoube Issa and also attended by lecturers and students from both Faculty of Languages as well as Faculty of Islamic Sciences. The program plays the role of the university in promoting Arabic language as the main language of communication between the students and lecturers.
The event commenced with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran by the faculty student followed by the opening speech from the Advisor of the Arabic Language Club, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abduloh Usof in which he expressed his gratitude and appreciation towards the students and the organizer of the event for organizing such a valuable program. It was then followed by a speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Flayyih Mudhhi Ahmed in which he advised students to learn the Arabic language and also explained how important this language is for the Islamic nation thus to uphold it as a universal language adopted by the global community.
At the end of the program, students from the Arabic Club held a short theatre presentation by members of the Arabic Club highlighting the situations faced by students and university lecturers and the importance of completing a timely assignment. Later, the students held a linguistic competition to enhance the use of the Arabic language and were accompanied by a prize giving ceremony for the winners of the competition and a photo session with the lecturers and the students.
