MEDIU participated in International Seminar on Contemporary Fiqh VIII, UM

MEDIU participated in International Seminar on Contemporary Fiqh VIII held on 5-6 October 2016 at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. The conference with the theme “Maqasid al-Shari’ah: Standard, Application and Contemporary Challenges” was represented by Deputy Dean Faculty of Islamic Sciences; Asst. Prof.Dr. Yasser Mohamed and Dean, Admission and Registration; Asst. Prof. Dr. Doucoure Abdou Samadou.

The session was held in the presence of guest of honor, His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Hassan and Sheikh Walid Al-Faqih, member of the Islamic Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League, where in MEDIU’s representatives presented a research on “Purposes of Islamic law and its application in human development” and “Maqasid Dimension in Islamic Politics”.

Among the objectives of the conference are to discuss the standard of Maqasid al-Shari’ah based on present reality, to analyze the application of contemporary issues based on Maqasid al-Shari’ah’s standard, to evaluate challenges in application of Maqasid al-Shari’ah and to rectify misunderstandings on the application of Maqasid al-Shari’ah in contemporary issues.
