An orientation day to welcome the new international students for the Semester 2014 was held on Wednesday, 17 September 2014. The orientation program was collaborated under the Students Affairs Division led by Dean of Students Affairs; Dr. Shaker Bani Melhem and head by the chairman of the orientation; Mr. Mahmoud Radwan Hussein Al-Zgool, Head of Counselling and Students Activities Department.
The orientation program begins with a welcome remarks by Assoc. Prof Dr.Ismail Mat; Deputy CEO of Students Affairs Division in welcoming the new students and congratulates them for choosing MEDIU as their preferred education center. Head of Marketing; Mr. Mohd Shahrin Ab Rahman along with Mr.Esmail Ebrahim Hassan Al-Mokhtar briefed the students on their journey pathway and emphasized on the importance of seeking knowledge while having patience along the way of gaining knowledge.
Mr. Mahmoud Radwan Hussein Al-Zgool highlight on the self-discipline aspects of the students, especially in the lectures attendance as well as to abide the rules and regulations of MEDIU.He also provides an introduction of the activities carried out by the Students Representative Council (SRC) which assist to build up their social skills and understanding of other cultures.A motivational talk entitled “How to b ea successful student” was delivered to urged the students to always move forward to achieve their goals.
The orientation session continues with briefing session on academic, student portal and Advanced Learning & i-Management system(ALIM Starting) presented by Mr. Ammar Abdul Razak Bathich, a session with MEDIU’s Librarian; Mr. Abdoulrahman Aljounaidi Mhd Ramez on the digital library and Faculty of Languages academic presentation by Assoc. Prof.Dr Daud Abdul Quadir Elega. Among other topics that were delivered to the students were international visa procedures; students services activities and health insurance card.
The orientation ends with words of encouragement to the new students, to always stay positive throughout their studies in MEDIU and state that the Student Affairs Division will always assist their best to serve and meet the needs of the students.
