An open dialogue students session with MEDIU’s Honourable CEO; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi was held on Friday, 21 February 2014. The meeting was intended to meet up close with the students, to listen and answer on students inquiries and to inform on the latest information from the University’s management as well as to motivate the students in their studies. The session which was held for 2 ½ hours was attended by all the students, faculty members, deans and lecturers.
The session started with the recitation of Al-Quran and began with welcoming speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr Moussa Oumar Keita; Dean of Students Affairs Department where he expressed his pleasure to have this meeting and stressed the importance of an open dialogue with students. Later, Deputy CEO of Student Affairs Division; Assoc. Prof. Dr.Ismail Mat stresses the importance of interaction with the students and the support and needs to constantly assist the students obstacles in their education pathway.
The Honourable CEO stressed that the purpose of the gathering is to have a two-way communication between the students and University’s management to listen on their views, recommendations and opinions as well as to find solutions for any problems raised. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi states that the University’s development project is nearing to completion and ready to serve the students by this year, God willing. Among other recent developments is the launch of website in French version; thus MEDIU official website is now available in four(4) option preferred language and on the announcement of MEDIU’s ranked 1st place among private universities in Malaysia and 7th place for Malaysia universities in general based on the results of Standard National Center for Research Universal (WIPO MATRIX) in February 2014. During the session, CEO also has expressed a desire to attract more local students, in line with the recommendations from the Malaysian Ministry in order to create an atmosphere of harmony and exchange of cultures and knowledge. The formation of the Students Council Representative to represent the students in general in all aspects of student affairs will be discuss as well in a separate meeting session.
At the end of the session, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi states that MEDIU is indeed a special university in its own kind and the students should be proud of it and God willing; it will be among the prestigious universities and acknowledge the students by stating that the CEO Office welcomes for any student related inquiries through any means of communication including email.
