Al-Madinah International University participated in the academic seminar organized by the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia, in cooperation with the Office of the Muslim World League in Malaysia, under the title “The Civilizational Role of the Arabic Language”. The seminar was held in celebration of World Arabic Language Day and took place at Alpha University in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
The university was represented at the seminar by His Excellency Dr. Ammar Bathish, CEO of Al-Madinah International University, who took part in the seminar’s activities and scholarly discussions addressing the status of the Arabic language and its civilizational and cultural role in promoting dialogue and mutual understanding among peoples.
The seminar was attended by a number of prominent academics and distinguished scholarly and cultural figures. In his intervention, Sheikh Wan Muhammad bin Abdulaziz, Vice President of the Malaysian Scholars Association, discussed the status of the Arabic language in Islam, emphasizing that it is an essential necessity for the proper performance of acts of worship such as prayer. He highlighted its eloquence and its ability to convey profound meanings through concise expressions, noting that love for the Arabic language stems from love for Islam and love for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
In her address, Professor Dr. Nur Liza binti Muslim, President of Alpha University Malaysia, affirmed that the Arabic language is not merely a means of communication, but rather a civilizational and intellectual bridge that contributes to fostering dialogue and building peace among nations. Dr. Syed Hussein bin Abdulqader Al-Habshi pointed to the role of the Arabic language in diplomatic work and in strengthening mutual respect and cultural identity, while Dr. Badr Muhammad Muhammad Hassan spoke about the role of Arabic in deepening the understanding of religious texts, preserving Islamic identity, and keeping pace with digital transformation and artificial intelligence in higher education.
On the sidelines of the seminar, His Excellency Dr. Ammar Bathish met with Professor Shahruddin bin Muhammad, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alpha University Malaysia. The meeting discussed prospects for joint academic cooperation between Al-Madinah International University and Alpha University, as well as ways to develop scientific partnerships and collaborative programs in the fields of education and scientific research.
The seminar was attended by a number of ambassadors, diplomats, university presidents, academics, and individuals interested in the Arabic language, reflecting the growing interest in the status of Arabic and its civilizational role.
