Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) recently participated in the Khayr Ummah Conference (KUC 2017) on 26-27 November 2017 at InterContinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur with the themed ‘The Manhaj of the Ahlu As-Sunnah Unites ASEAN’ including on the implementation of the concept of moderation and threats to the sustainability of the concept.
The conference receives cooperation from the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia and the Ministry Islamic Affairs, Da’wah and Guidance of Saudi Arabia, as well as the organisers of the program are the Department of Special Affairs (JASA), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Ministry, Al-Khadeem Organisation (Al-Khadeem), Malaysian Ilmuan Association (iLMU) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
The two-day conference was was represented by the members of Faculty of Islamic Sciences led by the Faculty’s Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Usman Jakfar along with Deputy CEO of Academic Affairs Division, Prof. Dr. Ab Rahim Ismail who attend the closing ceremony of KUC 2017 by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
A total of 30 research papers are presented over a period of two days with nearly 1,000 participants from participating countries namely Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam and Laos which provides a meeting and introductory platform amongst other Islamic scholars in the Southeast Asian region in terms of scholarship, education, socio-economic, security and welfare.
Apart from presentation of papers by scholars and distinguished thinkers locally and internationally, MEDIU as well participate in the exhibition area by various agencies, institutions and departments, as well as non-governmental organisations and local companies that are directly involved in the conference.
