Launching and Briefing Session Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning Award for the Purpose of Credit [APEL(C)] and Credit Transfer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) attended the Launching and Briefing Session Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning Award for the Purpose of Credit [APEL(C)] and Credit Transfer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) held in Hilton Hotel, Petaling Jaya on Tuesday, 27 September 2016.

The program begins with a welcoming remarks by Dato’ Prof. Dr.Rujhan Mustafa, MQA Chief Executive Officer and the launching ceremony officiated by Honourable Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, Minister of Higher Education.

Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh states that with this launch, it allows individuals to continue their studies and shorten the duration of the study compared to the regular studies. He said [APEL (C)] is for individuals who have work experience or short course but do not have any official academic qualifications, meanwhile (MOOCs) is candidates to pursue in online learning gained credit transfers to the subject in academic programs at the institutions of higher learning.

The implementation is in line with the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 which emphasize on “Globalized Online Learning” with the aims to improve the quality of learning, to save costs, exposing the Malaysian education expertise to the world and to promote lifelong learning among Malaysians.

MEDIU was represented by the Deputy CEO of Research & Development Division, Assoc. Prof. Dr. AB Rahim accompanied by Dean of University Development and Quality; Asst. Prof. Dr. Bakare Kazeem Kayode and Head of Public Relations Department, Mr. Jamaluddin Hussai
