International Public Speaking Competition (Malay Language) 2017

The Ministry of Higher Education recently organized International Public Speaking Competition (Malay Language) 2017 on Wednesday, 26 July 2017. The event was held at Perdana Hall, Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) in Putrajaya. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak officiated the program; with this year is the 11th year of the competition with nearly 53 participations from 36 countries internationally and 9 finalists competing to win the Prime Minister’s Award.

MEDIU’s students were invited to witness the annual distinguished event, led by Brother Abu Bakar Mohammed Gali and Sister Atiqah Shakirah binti Mohamad Shauki. The winners for ‘Category for International Student in Malaysia’ has won by Abdul Matin Mohamed Azeem (UIAM) from Afghanistan, 2nd place Abdul Rahman Khaled Hasan Saeed (UTP) from Yemen and 3rd place Hassan Radwan Jamal Elatrash (UIAM) from Palestine meanwhile for the ‘International Category’ won by Lisa Shimazaki from Japan, 2nd place Ma Xio Nabil from China and 3rd place Rimajon Sotlikova from Uzbekistan. As for the Category for Malay Archipelago, first place won by Noor Haqim Noor Hamiddon (Malaysia), 2nd place Ahmad Aidil Hadri Sa’dullah (Singapore) and 3rd place Muhamad Sharulnizam Md Roni (Malaysia).

The event has provided some benefits to MEDIU students to foster awareness of the importance of Bahasa Melayu and the university hopes to participate in the competition in the future.
