The staff and students of Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) had the opportunity to assist the operation of relief aid for the flood victims recently on Saturday, 3 January 2014 at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The east coast of peninsular Malaysia was badly strike by flood which affected nearly 160,000 people from the East Coast states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang to be evacuated.
The volunteering works includes to manage the flood aids and goods such as foods, disposable items, clothes, medicines and such for the flood victims. Some of the volunteers even continued their mission by distributing the aid directly to the flood victims in Temerloh, Pahang. MEDIU Corporate Services employee, Mohd Redzwan Mohd Dol said, “The humanitarian aid is incomparable to the misery and suffering of the flood victims, with hope that our efforts and aid can lessen their burden.” MEDIU’s student, Abu Bakar Ghali from Ghana states that he and his friends are obliged to provide assistance to the flood victims especially to the states in the East Coast of Malaysia.
Among MEDIU’s employees that participate in the volunteering works are Madam Bibi Asma’ Sher Mohamad; Head of Student Services Department, Corporate Services personnel namely Mr. Ahmad Zakaria Ahmad Faizul, Mr. Mohd Redzwan Mohd Dol and Mr.Mohd Fairid Gado, Mr.Muammar Eusouffi Zainol Abidin from International Students Department. Mr. Mohd Khairul Azmi Sulaiman, Registrar Department and Mr. Jamaluddin Hussain, Head of Public Relations Department.
