Establishment of Student Advisory System (SAS), Faculty of Engineering

MEDIU’s Faculty of Engineering has established a Student Advisory System (SAS), which was led by the System Coordinator, Assoc.Prof.Helmi Bin Othman on Wednesday, 3 February 2016. The establishment of this system in the Faculty of Engineering mainly to focus on the guidelines to be implemented by the lecturer and academic advisor in the interest of ensuring good academic advice given to students as well as to guide and monitor the student’s learning pathway.

Assoc.Prof.Cader Aboobucker Mohiddin highlighted on the needs of having such a system and to expect the existing challenges to be solved by implementing the system in the faculty. Faculty of Engineering expects the implementation of this system able to improve the current mechanism for guiding the students in regards to produce highly qualified engineers.

Guidelines of the system will be brief at the beginning of the semester in February 2016 to the students, in which each lecturer will be assigned as an academic advisor for a number of students and it is expected that each student meets his/her academic advisor at a minimum of 3 times per semester to keep track on students’ progress and skills development.
