Closing ceremony session for ‘7th Al-Quran and Hadith Competition’ organized by Saudi School, Kuala Lumpur


The Saudi School, Kuala Lumpur under the auspices of the Royal Embassy of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Malaysia recently organized ‘7th Al-Quran and Hadith Competition’ with the cooperation from Islamic and religious schools throughout Malaysia. The closing ceremony was held on Friday evening, 21 March 2014 at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ambassador of the Royal Embassy of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Mr. Fahad Bin Abdullah Al-Rashid.

In celebration of the victory, Al-Madinah International University(MEDIU) were represented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ramadan Mohamed Abdelmoeti Ali and Assoc. Prof.Dr Daud Abdul Quadir Elega; Deans of Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Languages respectively.  The closing ceremony has attracted nearly 270 students from more than 90 various Islamic and religious schools throughout Malaysia.

The ceremony began with Holy Quran recitation and  followed by opening remarks by Mr. Mazen bin Saleh Al-Naseer, Principal of the Saudi School Kuala Lumpur. He stated that the school has taken the role of Saudi Arabia for hosting such competition as an obligation to preserve the Book of Allah Almighty and to encourage Muslims to learn, memorize and practice the Holy Quran. He also enlightened that the competition was divided into two competitions; ‘Memorizing the Quran’ and ‘Hadith of the Prophet’; with the foremost is divided into four categories namely memorizing the entire Quran-30 juz’, 20 juz’, 15 juz’ and 3 juz’ respectively. Meanwhile for the ‘Hadith of the Prophet’ competition were divided to three categories namely memorizing 60 hadith, 40 hadith and 30 hadith.

Later, the audience were being heard readings of Quran by the past winners. An audio visual were presented to the guests on the history and development activities of the competition. This was followed by the competition official sponsor speech; Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al–Balehi, Religious Attaché of the Royal Embassy of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He expressed his happiness to see the highly motivated participants taking part in the competition and completed the categories as well as praised on the level readings of the Holy Quran the participants has reached.

Lastly, the first winner of the competition with a cash prize of RM7000 for ‘Memorizing the Quran’ category is Brother Khairi Ghazali from Akademi Tahfiz Ihya Ulum Wahyu in Klang, Selangor. The prize giving ceremony was given by His Excellency Ambassador of the Royal Embassy of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Mr. Fahad Bin Abdullah Al-Rashid. Second and third place has won cash prize RM5500 and RM4000 respectively. As for ‘Hadith of the Prophet’ category, winners won RM1000 for the first place, RM900 for second place and third place RM800.
