Analysis on Webometrics: First Half of 2015  

webometricIn implementing and realizing the mission of the University in terms of achieving scientific and educational aspects as well as to gained recognition in quality assurance; the University has to go through a strategic plan towards being a leading university. These outcomes can be achieve by The National Center for Global Research Organization(Webometrics) in Madrid, Spain; a center which execute analysis twice a year which aimed at urging academic institutions around the world to provide scientific activity to reflect their scientific level.  The aim of the ranking is to improve the presence of the academic and research institutions on the Web and to promote the open access publication of scientific results.

Dissemination of information is a global university and business goals in a positive impact on the reputation of a university. This can be seen as a paradigm shift to a more forward internationally. In general, the position of a university is essential in improving the performance quality of education and scientific research results to make it more known in the world of education. The measurement are based on four criteria namely; (1) measures the total number of university pages (size 16.6%), (2) linked to the internationalization and emerging (vision and spread 50%), (3) measures the extent to see the effect of the published material (16.6%), and lastly (4) measures the scientific research papers (16.6%), which reflects the success of the university in documenting and preserving the quality of its academic activities.

Key changes for Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) for the first half of 2015 as follows:

  • Ranked 1stplace in the category of private universities in Malaysia
  • Ranked 10th place overall in the category of Malaysian universities; out of 89 universities and colleges
  • Ranked 44th place for Southeast Asia region universities; out of 1,190 universities
  • Ranked 497th place for Asia region universities; out of 8,902 universities
  • Ranked 14th place in the category of Arabic and Islamic universities.; out of 990 universities
  • Ranked 1,629th place for worldwide universities; out of 12,000 universities around the world.
