Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) took a step forward in becoming the preferred choice of international students for pursuing their studies. As seen in the pie chart above, which the intake of Feb 2015 semester consists of seventy-eight (78) citizens of international student from all over the world. Among them are from Malaysia, Nigeria, Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Niger, Senegal, Britain and Australia, Somalia and Bangladesh. In addition to that, MEDIU’s also gain students interest from the United States, Singapore, Pakistan, China, Mali, India and the Syrian Arab Republic, Italy, Canada, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guinea, France, Ghana, Maldives and Afghanistan, Cameroon, Iran, Chad, Kenya, Netherlands, Sweden, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, the Philippines and the United Republic of Tanzania, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mauritania, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Comoros, Germany, Kazakhstan, Serbia, South Africa, Uganda, Brazil, Brunei, Finland, Gambia, Jamaica, Kosovo, Lebanon, Norway, Qatar, Seychelles, Switzerland, Togo, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Vietnam.
According to the statistics by the MEDIU’s Department of Admission and Registration, the students from Nigeria led the enrollment for Feb 2015 intake by 19%, Malaysian students 14% and followed by the middle east region namely Yemen 7%, Morocco 6%, Saudi Arabia and Egypt 5%, Libya, Syria and Somalia 4%, and followed by other ratio for other countries. The statistics shown are in line with the national policy to promote diversity of citizenship in the process of developing innovative learning in education. The contexts were delivered by Malaysia Education and Higher Learning II, Dato’ Seri Haji Idris Jusoh during the opening ceremony of the National Conference on Higher Education Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, where he states that “the diversity of the students citizenship encourages them to interact in a variety of cultural activities and socio-cognitive state and thus assist the students to think and express opinions in an intellectual, creative and innovative way.”
MEDIU’s Department of Admission and Registration believes the statistics are a result of their efforts in providing the best services and various academic programs that meets the students aspirations as well as the latest learning technology developed in MEDIU which contributed to the increase in the number of students from various countries in the world either through conventional learning or distance education.
