An orientation day to welcome the new students for the February 2015 semester was held on Tuesday, 10 February 2015. A total of ninety-nine (99) students; 34 local students and 65 international students were enrolled for the new semester in various academic disciplines mainly in Faculty of Islamic Sciences. The orientation program is collaborated under the Students Affairs Division led by its Deputy CEO, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Ismail Mat and Dean of Students Affairs, Dr.Shaker Bani Melhem. The program was head by the chairman of the orientation committee; Mrs. Bibi Asma’ Sher Mohamad, Head of Student Service Department.
Pre Orientation was held a day earlier to cater student’s hostel registration, allocation of unit as well as agreement between the students and MEDIU. The orientation program begins with welcome remarks by MEDIU’s Deputy CEO of Students Affairs Division; Assoc. Prof Dr.Ismail Mat in welcoming the new students and emphasizing on the importance of seeking knowledge while having patience along the way of gaining knowledge in MEDIU. Dr.Shaker gave words of encouragement to the new students to always stay positive throughout their studies in MEDIU and state that the Student Affairs Division will always assist their best to serve and meet the needs of the students.
The orientation session continues with an introduction on MEDIU by Mr.Esmail Ebrahim Hassan Al-Mokhtar; Marketing Department and followed by briefing session on academic, student portal and Advanced Learning & i-Management system(ALIM Starting) presented by Mr. Jafar Batiha. Examination and records matters were delivered by Mr.Azrul Nizam and a session with the MEDIU’s Librarian, Mr. Abdoulrahman Aljounaidi Mhd Ramez on the digital library. Brother Ramzy, president of Student Representative Council (SRC) had the opportunity to have an icebreaking session with the new students. Later, a briefing session on the local financial assistance on PTPTN and MARA study loan were delivered by Mrs. Nor Suhaza Mohmad Shah and Miss Nur Syahirah presented on the International Student Unit procedures. At the end of the orientation, the new students were overwhelmed with a motivational session by Asst. Prof Dr Elsayed Mohamed Salem, Dean of Library Affairs; well verses in three (3) languages-Arabic, English and Malay.
