Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) in Kuala Lumpur welcomed Sheikh Abdullah Ali Bawazir, Chief Executive Officer of Iqra Arabia, an initiative affiliated with Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for academic and educational cooperation in the field of Arabic language education and to strengthen the presence of the Arabic language within the international educational environment.
During the meeting, both sides discussed several areas of potential cooperation, particularly in developing Arabic language skills among students as well as academic and administrative staff. The discussions also explored educational and training initiatives and programmes that could contribute to enhancing the quality of Arabic language education for non-native speakers.
The meeting was attended by Asst. Prof. TS. Dr. Ammar Bathich, CEO of Al-Madinah International University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Popoola Kareem Hamed, Director of the Research Centre and Training & Consultancy Management at the university, and Dr. Majed Fawzi Abu Ghazala, a lecturer at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur.
The CEO of Al-Madinah International University emphasised that the visit reflects the university’s commitment to expanding its international academic partnerships and strengthening cooperation with universities and specialised institutions in Arabic language and Islamic studies. Such partnerships support the university’s mission of providing quality education aligned with international standards.
The visit also builds upon Al-Madinah International University’s ongoing efforts to support the Arabic language and strengthen cooperation with specialised institutions, including the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language. The university has become an accredited centre for administering the Hamzah Test, which assesses Arabic language proficiency among non-native speakers. This achievement reflects the university’s commitment to developing Arabic language education and assessing linguistic proficiency according to recognised standards.
Al-Madinah International University affirmed that the visit represents an important step towards strengthening academic cooperation and exchanging expertise in the field of Arabic language education, while exploring joint initiatives that serve students, researchers, and educational institutions and contribute to enhancing the position of the Arabic language in international academic settings.
