Dialogue with MEDIU’s Deputy Dean, Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences (FFAS)
Completion of FFAS Team for the Year 2014
A continuation of the MEDIU’s policy in improving the efficiency of academician and faculty members in the development of future plans for the faculties, The Public Relations Department recently conducted a dialogue session with the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences; Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Osman on Wednesday, 23 April 2014. The session aims to view on the performance and management of the Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences, which is headed by him presently.
The dialogue session focus on how the new management team works more effectively as well as the activities that were supported by the Faculty which involves student services and academic management aspects. This demonstrates the expansive role of the Faculty through the technical and administrative supports which far ahead can be taken for all its programs.
During the meeting, various matters were discoursed in a more comprehensive manner in order to enhance the efficiency of the Faculty members to achieve the standard quality requirements of the higher education institutions.
The dialogue session begin on the Faculty’s organizational structure and its responsibility, and his answer was:
The new management has taken over the duties and the implementation of a task execution to ensure smooth administrative structure of the faculty. Currently, Dr.Mohammed Abdulrazzaq Nasser as Head of Department of Economics and Management in the Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences meanwhile Head of Department of Islamic Finance and Banking in the Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences held by Dr.Shaker Bany Melhem.
Preparation of the faculty members to learn on the tasks related to graduate studies, he said:
The academician and faculty members have not yet received any special training related to the duties of the graduate studies through the campus management system. However, they have put an initiative to learn on their own to give guidance and supervising the graduate students to carry out their tasks. The Faculty has informed the graduates’ management to conduct such training and efforts have been made when the senior management of the university has approved 83.8% plan that submitted on Friday, 18 April 2014. Thus, it shows the management is keen on the efforts and changes that need to be implemented for a progressive future.
The development progress for Master in Business Administration (MBA):
The faculty is currently active in the effort to develop additional materials for the program for Master in Business Administration (MBA). Prof. Dr. Barjoyai Bardai currently is in completing some of the relevant documents for the submission of the program. Thus, it will assist to increase the number of students when the University’s moved to the new building. Hence, with the advent of this new program it will give more choices to the students on the options under the Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences.
For undergraduate programs, the Faculty is coordinating with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for its Bachelor of Business Administration accreditation visit recently. We are still waiting for a full written report on the visit and are in the process of finalizing on Full Accreditation for the program.
The efforts done by the Faculty for accreditation of its academic programs:
For accreditation by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), the Faculty which will lead by the Dean of the Faculty will establish a sub-committee headed by the Deputy Dean, Heads of departments and programs and the Registrar. The main task is to coordinate the provision related to the program that will be accredited.
Among the programs that are now in the frame for final approval by the MQA includes four PhD and one Master program are:
- PhD in Accounting (By Research)
- PhD in Business Management (By Research)
- PhD in Islamic Banking and Finance (By Research)
- PhD in Economics (By Research)
- Master in Business Management (By Research)
All the conditions of the necessary documents for the purpose of applying these programs have been processed by the Registrar.
Once the postgraduate programs above are evaluated, it will be followed with the program follows:
- Master in Accounting (By Research)
- Master in Economics (By Research)
- Master in Islamic Banking and Finance (By Research):
The importance of students’ attendance for lectures and examination:
The Faculty is concerned with the issue of the presence in the classroom and during examinations and often in relation to the academic administration to deliver warning messages to students, in violation of the attendance issue.
In this way, it shows the faculties takes seriously the issue of compliance with class attendance, and give them the feeling that the university will not tolerate on this matter. Once the warning been implemented, the commitment of the students to attend classes has increased and this indicated they need to obey to the rules and regulations.

Ways to intensify the FFAS:
The Faculty will organize seminars or courses for academic staff, particularly for the Faculty’s members and will be open to all university students and administrative staff as well. The seminar will be held in which the first Friday of every month

All that has been achieved in a short period (September 2013 to April 2014) is the result of the efforts and cooperation of all the university management especially to Honorable CEO, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi and Deputy CEO of Academic Affairs Division, Assoc.Prof. Dr Hj. Wan Mat Hj Sulaiman.
In conclusion, Honorable CEO praised the significant level achieved by the Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences (FFAS) in directing the faculty members for the successful strides in education through curriculum development continuing education curriculum and study plans and modern techniques. .
* It should be noted that Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Osman, has held the position of Vice Dean in December 2013, after serving as Acting Deputy Dean in the past year.
