Malaysia has been given the honor to host the 3rd APEC Economies’ Chief Science Advisors and Equivalents Meeting 2015 (APEC CSAE) on 15-16 October 2015 in Hilton Kuala Lumpur. APEC CSAE is a new agency that is supported by APEC leaders in 2012 to strengthen science diplomacy and share good practices, particularly in the fields of science, technology and innovation. Mr.Jamaluddin Hussain, Head of Public Relations Department represented Al-Madinah International University(MEDIU) during the opening ceremony of the meeting with the theme “Building Foundations for Scintific Advice towards Inclusive Economies and a Better World”.
The session begin with a welcoming remarks by Prof.Tan Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid, Science Advisior to the Prime Minister of Malaysia as well as opemning remarks by Sir Peter Gluckman, Chief Science Advisior to the Prime Minister of New Zealand. Keynote address of the APEC Economies’ Chief Science Advisors and Equivalents Meeting were delivered by the Honorable Dato’Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia. The APEC CSAE meetings focus on the relationship between the scientific and policy-making communities, and between the scientific community and the broader public in the Asia Pacific economies sector.
